Sanctuary Renovation
Contract Amount: $700,000
Delivery Method: Negotiated/General Contractor
Date Completed: 1994
Project Highlights:
Westminster Presbyterian Church has long held a place of pride in
Buffalo's rich history. The church was originally constructed in
1854 and is well known for its stained glass and other elements
by Louis Comfort Tiffany. The interior restoration responded to
a complex history of prior alterations, and a new design binds these
elements in one place. As the project general contractor, Lehigh
successfully completed the sanctuary renovation in just 6 months.
The work began with the demolition of the majority of the balcony,
the entire chancel platform, existing floor coverings and finishes
and the protection of the existing stained glass windows.
Lehigh was honored with a prestigious National Excellence in Construction Award for historical restoration by the ABC for the 1994 sanctuary restoration at Westminster.
